The 47th Australian Kendo Championships was held in Canberra over the Easter weekend 2025 and Queensland entered a strong team across many events. Under the leadership of the dedicated coaching team, the QLD team attended numerous squad training sessions and team activities which contributed to yet another successful results for Queensland:
– Women’s Open Teams – 2nd Place!
– Women’s Open Individuals – Kaori Langley 2nd Place!
– Veterans Individuals – Toshio Nishimoto 3nd Place!
– Women’s Kyu Teams – 3rd Place.
– Men’s Kyu Teams – 3rd Place.
– Kyu Women’s Fighting Spirit Award – Hana Langley!
– Dan Men’s Fighting Spirit Award – Jack Dye!
While the competition results are excellent, the biggest success comes from the growth of many of our team members – especially the younger generation. Many of our QLD Team members performed significantly beyond their own expectations and beliefs, and personally developed as individuals, and as kenshi. Takeru Shiratori, our head coach always said “Please, find your own kendo!“, and many of us did!
